The Wahine Project, an organization founded by Dionne Ybarra, seeks to break down the barriers that prevent the participation of young girls in the sport of surfing. By providing girls, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to surf, with resources, education, outreach and travel the girls can become proficient surfers while building their self-esteem and becoming socially responsible.
